The apartment is industrial/warehouse style, with the living area and kitchen flowing onto the balcony. The furniture is modern and comfortable, and there are great cross breezes, which keeps the apartment cool in summer. It is on the top floor (second) with views of the heritage listed St Patrick's church.
The room on offer is a good sized bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom with a bath and shower is next to the room (not en-suite), and the toilet is separate. There is a large built in wardrobe, and the half wall of glass sliding doors slide all the way back to give the room a spacious, breezy feel.
The living area has comfortable couches, and a TV and DVD player if you decide to have a quiet night in. The kitchen is small, but well equipped.
If there is a group of you, I can accommodate extra guests. There is a double bed in a separate room, and a hotel-quality folding single bed which can be used in either room.
The second room is off the living room, and is internal. It can also be made part of your booking. Although I've limited the number of guests to 5, I'm happy to discuss your requirements if you have a larger group.
The price for two people is based on them sharing one bed, but if you would like to sleep in separate beds I can arrange this for a $20 per night fee. Please advise me if you want this option.
I'm not home that much, so you will often have the place to yourself during the day, and sometimes at night. I'm happy to give you advice on good places to eat and drink locally, and how to get around Brisbane.
The James St precinct is a stylish neighbourhood packed with designer stores, quality restaurants, and good cafes. Some of the best coffee in Brisbane is a short walk away! The apartment is also close to Brisbane entertainment precinct of Fortitude Valley, but outside of the amplified music exemption zone so club noise is not an issue. All Valley venues such as Family, The Met, Cloudland, Sixes and Sevens, Number 29, and The Beat are a 5-10 minute walk.
The Brunwick Central shops are close by, and IGA supermarket is a few streets away, with ALDI, Coles and Woolworths a little further.
Getting around is easy in the Valley.
The buses on Brunswick St, about 5 minutes' walk from the apartment, go to the CBD and South Bank (5-10 minutes ride), where you can transfer to every bus line that services Brisbane. The Glider bus on Ann St is a 24/7 service going from Teneriffe to West End (via South Bank and the CBD), and the nearest stop is 5-10 minutes' walk.
Fortitude Valley train station has all Brisbane train lines transiting through it, including the train from the airport, and is about 10-15 minutes' walk.
If you like to walk, there are plenty of places you can get to in under an hour.
CBD - 25-30 minutes
South Bank Parklands - 40 minutes
New Farm Park - 20 minutes
Judith Wright Centre - 5 minutes
Riverwalk - 10 minutes
Powerhouse - 25 minutes
There is a sauna and a plunge pool in the common area of the building which you are welcome to use during the posted opening hours. (Please keep noise in these areas to a minimum as a courtesy to other residents.)
There is no secure parking readily available, but there is limited visitor parking, and I have a permit to park in the local streets for free which you can borrow to put in your car window. If you need secure parking, I may be able to arrange this with advance notice, but it will be 10-15 minutes' walk from the apartment.
Talon säännötCheck in and out times are flexible if there are no bookings that clash. In any case, you can leave your belongings in the apartment and collect them later.
There is a security deposit of $100 required in cash on arrival, which will be returned in full if the apartment is left in good condition and the access keys returned. The keys cost $50 to replace in case of loss.
On check in, I will meet you, hand over keys, collect the bond, and show you around the apartment. Please feel free to ask me any questions about the apartment, getting around, and local amenities.
Smoking is permitted, on the balcony only. Please don't smoke inside, the smell left behind is very noticeable to non-smokers!
Pets are welcome, but please ensure any mess they make is cleaned up. Please also ensure they are reasonably quiet and don't disturb the neighbours.
I expect guests to treat the apartment as they would their home. Help us limit our carbon footprint! Please be mindful of your water usage, and switch off lights and appliances when you are not using them. You are welcome to relax in and use the living areas, but please respect the furniture, clean up any mess you make, and wash your dishes. Thanks!

2 schöne Tage in Brisbane bei Klaus und Rowan.
Klaus war ein sehr angenehmer Gastgeber und unseren Fragen immer aufgeschlossen.
Auch die uns angebotene Wohnung entsprach der Beschreibung. Alles war sauber und ordentlich. Wir fühlten uns wohl und "wie zu Hause".
Die Lage der Wohnung mitten in der Stadt ist für kurze und lange Aufenthalte in Brisbane sehr empfehlenswert.
Klaus has a really nice apartment in the heart of Brisbane. Although he wasn't at home much, he gave us a nice welcome and made same suggestions what to do in the area. Also it wasn't a problem for him that we arrived early in the morning. I can highly recommend Klaus to anybody!
Klaus was a very helpful host, and went to great lengths to accommodate to our needs. Even though located in the party district, the apartment was very peaceful and quiet. The bus to the centre was quick and frequent. Apt is very spacious, and kitchen had everything needed. Great balcony, though made the living room quite cold (it was winter). Nice homelike feeling on a week's work trip.
